Announcing our sponsorship of prestigious conference

We are proud to confirm that Smart Data Research UK (SDR UK) is sponsoring Digital Footprints 2025. The annual conference, now in its third year, takes place 14 – 15 May at the University of Leeds. The event will showcase how smart data research can serve the public good.

The Digital Footprints Conference showcases multidisciplinary research in the field of smart data. The two-day event brings together academics, policymakers, government representatives and industry. It’s an opportunity to share insights and frameworks for working with smart data.

“We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Digital Footprints Conference. The event is rapidly becoming a fixture in the data research calendar. I look forward to discussing what Smart Data Research UK can offer to the research community and hearing about the exciting work of today’s pioneers in smart data research.”

Joe Cuddeford, Director, Smart Data Research UK

Smart Data Research UK conference highlights

During Digital Footprints 2025, Smart Data Research UK will present findings from its recent public dialogue, focussed on ethical principles and public trust in smart data use.

Joe Cuddeford will deliver a plenary talk at the conference. He will share the story and vision for our programme and introduce our new network of data services. These teams, based across the UK, will acquire, steward and enable safe access to a diverse range of smart data.

SDR UK is also pleased to be sponsoring travel grants for early career researchers to attend the conference from across the UK.

Creating data conversations

The Digital Footprints Conference is an innovative forum dedicated to communicating the vast potential of novel digital data for public good. The first conference took place in 2023 when its topics ranged from theory about human behaviour, through mathematical modelling, data validation, population health trends to human mobility patterns. In 2024, the second conference focused on advancing the understanding of digital footprints data for social impact.

“We are so pleased Smart Data Research UK is sponsoring this year’s Digital Footprints Conference. As the national organisation championing smart data research for public good, they share our vision to grow a community of digital footprint researchers, who will present on some of the most exciting research in the field in Leeds in May”.
